After an amazing four years, Pinas Cup takes flight once again!
Growing from strength to strength, year after year, the most anticipated annual nationwide grassroots 11 a-side football tournament in the country -- The Pinas Cup -- spreads its wings even further, even wider. On our 6th year anniversary, Pinas Cup 2017 takes full flight! Hosted by Clark Freeport Zone as an official partner of the tournament, Pinas Cup 2017 promises to be our biggest and most festive tournament to date. With 8 full-sized eleven-a-side pitches, 3 nine-a-side pitches, and 2 seven-a-side pitches, Pinas Cup 2017 is expected to bring in over 100 teams, 2,500 players, and 5,000 parents, spectators and fans; that's 7,500 football enthusiasts cheering and playing and generally enjoying the festivities for 4 consecutive days. Every year we have continuously received numerous accolades from parents, coaches, and players about how well-organized, distinctive, competitive, exciting and extremely festive the tournament is. We certainly hope to bring back that same level of experience by keeping faith with our unique and grueling tournament format and by managing the quality and quantity of the participating teams. This year we will open the tournament to 7 eleven a-side categories, 1 nine-a-side categories, and 1 seven-a-side category, giving us 9 age categories in total. Adhering to numerous requests to extend the competition beyond youth development, Pinas Cup 2017 shall now include girls, women's and men's categories, making our tournament truly a family affair.
This year, Pinas Cup 2017 will be held on October 28 to 31, 2017. Being a semester school break for most of our youth, the dates give the participating club teams the opportunity to once again compete in a demanding and compact tournament. The Pinas Cup is now attracting a number of international youth teams to come and experience not just our brand of football, but to experience the beauty and festive culture that the Philippines is known for. Previously, Indonesia fielded its U13 National Team, showing our local clubs the level of football that is now expected in the ASEAN region. This year clubs from Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Indonesia, Thailand have already signified their interest to come to Pinas Cup 2017. Meanwhile, the Men's and Women's open categories have turned out to be extremely competitive. Several leading universities and colleges such as the University of the Philippines (UP), UST, Ateneo de Manila, Perpetual College, Far Eastern University, and others have participated and see its value as a competitive pre-season tune-up tournament. Even a few professional clubs have come to join the Men's Open. With an international flavor and with the quality of our clubs vastly improving, Pinas Cup 2017 again promises to be a football experience to remember.
